The practice of love offers no place of safety. We risk loss, hurt, pain. We risk being acted upon by forces outside our control.
When individuals are wounded in the space where they would know love during childhood, that wounding may be so traumatic that any attempt to reinhabit that space feels utterly unsafe and, at times, seemingly life-threatening.
